As I stated with Bronson- we knew we wanted a pup by him early on in his life. But life got in the way and we’d batted around the idea of getting a female for a very long time. Then I came across this story that begins, “I died today.”
And after a lot of tears, Philip and I decided that we’d better get a female sooner, rather than later as our Bronson (B-man) wasn’t getting any younger.
I’ll tell ya, I had a hard time finding a yellow female. We wanted a yellow female because the internet told me that only chocolates and yellows can breed and make all three colors of the Labrador Retriever. Well, the internet told me wrong, but we didn’t know that at the time. Finally, we found one and she’s got a traceable pedigree that goes back to the Duke of Buccleuch and the first of the Labrador breed when it was refined from the St. John’s dog. We named her Aurora because we’re sticking to the color-related names and she’s gold!
She is, and always has been, the biggest cuddle pup. The video below shows what happens when she’s trying to fall asleep on my legs and I stop petting on her.
She’ll even fall asleep with her body on the couch and her head on someone’s shoulder.
She loves rides (r-i-d-e-s) as much a Bronson, but prefer to sniff and explore more than retrieve. But she has a phenomenal sniffer on her and whenever she or Bronson drops a ball because they got distracted by something else, you just have to instruct her to find the ball and she’s got snout to ground sniffing it out. She’s never failed to find a dropped ball.
Like Bronson, she’s got a quick intelligence and we’ve had no problems training her with housebreaking and many tricks.
