I’ve had a full week to implement my exercise and weightlifting plan and I’ve learned a few things.
Overall, it’s been a success. I did aerobic/HIIT five of my planned six days last week and I think that degree of commitment might be a recent record. The last time that happened, my husband was getting his Ph.D. and I was a school teacher. I’d get off work way before he was done and power walk through the neighborhood where we lived.
This past week I didn’t, however, manage my weekend workout. I’d planned for Saturday, because Sunday is a grocery shopping and food prepping day, but my husband got the sniffles and the puppies really upped their activity level this week, so I was tired and it didn’t happen.
I also didn’t do either my ab or butt workout. At all. I really hate ab and butt workouts. Don’t ask me why. I need the former and the latter would just be bonus, but of all of the body part toning exercises I do, abs and butt are the ones I consistently do the least.
But the good news is that I upped my weights and reps on several exercises including preacher curls- from 7 pounds a couple weeks ago to 20 pounds this week. More weight and reps on chest exercises, as well as more reps on back. I also rowed like a crazy woman this week because I was sweating out my anger of what’s happening politically in the U.S. right now.
Today begins a new week and I rowed, did chest, AND did butt! Yeah!
Going forward, I know I need to eat better. But no, orthorexia, or disordered healthy eating, won’t be an issue for me. I love sushi and duck and sea salt caramel ice cream too much. I’m not even vegetarian, much less vegan as most orthorexics are. And you’d have to pay me quite a bit of money to never eat a Red Robin buffalo burger again. ;-0 But, at the same time, I’m not refueling properly after my HIIT/aerobic and weight lifting workout. And then I’m snacking too much on cinnamon rolls Samara has made or corn chips in the pantry. So, something to work on this week and going forward. I’ll have my usual cashew milk, egg white protein powder, and fruit smoothie, but also avocado toast with a fried egg to properly refuel me after so much work.
