I really fell down last month with my playlist plan. I had a good reason- these little girls and one little guy:
But this month I’ll make it up with two themed lists. Firstly, a Hanukkah-themed one because Hanukkah comes first this year.
Hanukkah is a minor Jewish holiday that has gained more prominence because it falls around the same time as December. Some people know about Hanukkah, but most people don’t. After the Maccabees defeated the Greeks at war, the priests reconsecrated the temple. They only had a enough oil to burn in the menorah for one day. Instead, the story goes, this little bit of oil lasted for a week and a day, which is why the holiday lasts for eight days. It’s called The Festival of Lights because candles or oil are lit on a special menorah with nine receptacles versus the usual seven. Menorot have a lighter candle called a Shammash, thus the extra one on both the traditional menorah and the hanukkiah.
Words I’ve used for this playlist associated with Hanukkah are: burn, light, fire, and flame. And, of course, this playlist would not be complete without The Chanukah Song by Adam Sandler.
