It’s been hard to adult lately. I grew up in Southwest Louisiana and so from an early age, hurricanes and their tracking were a part of my childhood for a fair portion of the year, every year. To see one after another after another after another hit the US- to see my friends in Texas in the path of Harvey, my friend Joe evacuate his family in Florida, my friend Claire in British Virgin Islands hunker down for Irma, and then to watch as Puerto Rico get slammed- was a lot to deal with. Add to this that two friends from my hometown are originally from Puerto Rico and still have a lot of family on the island, I’ve been quite busy helping them navigate contacting their members of congress to get more done for their family and our fellow American citizens. Three weeks later, it’s still very bad. Horribly bad. Unconscionably bad.
I do what I can. And that means I’ve gotten behind here as I have been listing a great number of things at the shop.
Until the end of 2017, 10% of all sales will go to help those in Puerto Rico. So if you can donate, please go to the charity Lin-Manuel Miranda (Tony award winner) suggested or if you’re shopping for the holidays, please consider Great Green Heron.
